We sat down with Lopez, who celebrates his tenth year with Chamberlain, as he pulls back the curtain on his passions, what makes him tick, and why he loves working for Chamberlain.
Tell us a bit about yourself and what you do at Chamberlain
Here at Chamberlain, I am the Customer Service/Technical Support Agent and have been so since I started with the company back in 2012.
In my role, I’m able to assist customers with any questions they have about our extensive range of products. I know all the ins and outs of the Chamberlain products, and I also provide this support to fellow Chamberlain staff so we can provide a professional and helpful experience for all our customers.
I normally work out of the Sydney office at North Ryde, but since the onset of COVID I have been working from home in Denistone, Sydney.
What do you like to do in your spare time?
I love spending my time boating, fishing, and enjoying the company of my friends and family. I also love to get stuck into some DIY projects when I can.
In fact, at the moment, I am working with my youngest son on a pretty interesting project. He is a shipwright apprentice with Sydney Tall Ships, and he has taken on a challenge to restore a 2 x 40ft long wooden diesel launches.
Having practical engineering knowledge from a previous role as an Aircraft Mechanic for Qantas, I have inadvertently become his apprentice (he’s a tough boss!) and I’m responsible for fixing up the two replacement diesel engines and all the electrics. He certainly keeps me on my toes!
Sounds impressive! Tell us a little more about this project?
It’s been an amazing DIY restoration project. One of the two boats was a 1948 built government motor launch, which after a severe storm was abandoned by the owner in a muddy tidal area not too far from Sydney.
My son and I spent over a month pumping out mud and trying to stabilise the boat to a point where it could be safety towed over to a marina nearby for proper repairs.
10 years is a long time! What do you love about working with Chamberlain?
Having worked in various industries throughout my life, I must say that hands down, Chamberlain is the best company I have ever worked for.
What makes Chamberlain so great are the people that I’m surrounded by and the amazing team attitude, and when you blend this with a great product offering, it makes the job virtually unbeatable.
